Harshit Rana Ruled out of Asian Games, NKR and Bumrah declared fit for Afghanistan T20Is

India’s fast bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fit for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan starting on September 13 in Delhi. Bumrah picked up an injury during India’s three-match ODI series against England and was ruled out of the following two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which the Shubman Gill-led side won by a margin of 1-0.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Regains Full Fitness

Along with Jasprit Bumrah, fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also regained fulled full fitness and will feature in the T20I series against Afghanistan. However, both Bumrah and Nitish’s workloads are expected to be managed with regard to the number of matches that they play so as to keep them free from any kind of injury, with the selectors also keeping an eye on the upcoming ODI World Cup to be held in Africa.

Washington Returns, Rana Sustains Fresh Injury

Meanwhile, Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the series in question and the Asian Games that follow the three T20I games after suffering a fresh injury during rehab at the COE. Rana, who was picked in India’s squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, picked up an injury in the warm-up game against South Africa and was ruled out of the tournament before returning for the T20I series against Ireland.

Spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar, who has been an integral part of the team in all three formats of the game for a couple of years now, has been declared fit for the series and is expected to feature in all three games as the lead spinner.

India will face Afghanistan in the first of the three T20Is on September 13, followed by the next two games on September 15 and 17, before they head to Japan for the historic contest against Japan and the multi-sporting event Asian Games, where the Shreyas Iyer-led side will aim to defend its Gold Medal, which the team won in 2023.
